Pro-Chancellor & Chairman
I am indeed honoured to be officially installed as Pro-Chancellor of MAHSA University by the Acting Chancellor, Y.Bhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa bin Hj. Abdullah, on 6 October 2011 at a glittering ceremony attended by friends, colleagues, fellow academicians and many others.
I would like to thank Y. Bhg Prof. Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa Bin Hj. Abdullah and the Board of Directors for giving me this wonderful opportunity to do the one thing that gives me much pleasure as a clinician, besides seeing patients, and that is, to teach, train and impart my knowledge, skills and experience to medical students during their formative years, along with the other students doing dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and the allied health sciences.
I hope MAHSA University’s (MU) gallant team, comprising some formidable luminaries and professionals who have had extensive administrative and clinical experience, will push MU away from the rest of the pack and work tirelessly to make MU a fully fledged University sooner than later. This of course involves hard work, determination, resilience, no compromises on standards and quality and active involvement in research. I am glad we have Y.Bhg. Prof. Tan Sri Dr. M Jegathesan to lead our research agenda. With his guidance and stewardship, our research activities and the quality of research that we do will increase. I will also work closely with our Vice Chancellor,Y.Bhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Hj. Megat Burhainuddin to put everything in place so that we are on the right track, with no surprises. We hope all senior members of MAHSA will work doubly hard as a team and with full commitment towards this end.
All of the above are possible because of the vision of one man, Y.Bhg Prof. Datuk Mohamed Haniffa, whom I have known for some time. He has the vision and the foresight to establish MAHSA and thereby venture into a most challenging area, with several players already on the field. In view of his hard work, passion, experience and the commitment to good quality education, MAHSA is what it is today, within such a short period of time.
MU has great plans for the future and some of the dreams I have, match those of Prof. Datuk Dr Hj. Haniffa. He has the financial and corporate strength and I, the clinical strength and perhaps also a strong and committed leadership style. So I am confident we can work well together to achieve more, much more, for MU and make it a household name for those keen on quality education.
This is a new beginning for me and I hope I will be able to make a difference and push our University to dizzy heights, with the support of the MU’s formidable workforce.
