Research

Research is an integral and mandatory component of any University’s responsibility, be it public or private. Clearly the emphasis, inputs and resources made available for a research program will vary with the nature, objectives, priorities and genesis of a university. In this regard it is commendable that MAHSA from its earliest days as a University has embraced the necessity to spawn and stimulate a research culture and program within its campus, albeit incrementally , but with a vision to see it grow as the Institution matures.

The Government of Malaysia has in recent years extended its research support to private universities and it is imperative that MAHSA will prepare itself to be eligible to tap these resources maximally.

A research mechanism has been put in place and is already a functioning entity. It composes of a Research Policy, Review and Ethics committee, a Research Resources Secretariat, and a budgetary allocation for research grants.

The initial emphasis of the program will be to foster a research culture amongst its academic staff whilst conducting programs to strengthen their research capability. Running parallel with this will be efforts to build institutional capacity to support research.

In this regard, MAHSA is fortunate to have amongst its senior academic staff, persons who have built up strong research careers in their pre-MAHSA days and bring to MAHSA a collective repository of research experience, expertise and leadership. It is envisaged that this resource will receive valued synergistic collaboration from all of MAHSA’s foreign partner Universities.
